Mordialloc Lapidary Club

As a member of our club you can discover more about this wonderful hobby and learn how to identify minerals, cut and polish stones and produce beautiful jewellery in our own workshops at a time that suits you.

Regular classes are held and, under the guidance of our experienced volunteer instructors, you can learn to cut gemstone cabochons, facet crystals and cut and polish opal.

You could also learn to work with silver and make jewellery, including setting stones that you have cut yourself.

Try your hand at enamelling or gemstone carving, or maybe create a Gem Tree.

As you develop your skills you can have your work assessed by an accredited judge at club level and hopefully move on to compete in competitions at the interclub level, State level (Gemkhana) and national level (GEMBOREE).

Junior members from 12 years to 16 years of age can participate in all club activities, but, to use the grinders or saws in the workshop, must, at all times, be under the close supervision of a parent or guardian.
