Minyip Bushland Reserve

The township of Minyip, whose name is an Aboriginal word meaning 'ashes', was established in the 1870s. Fifty-six acres (22 hectares) to the north-east of the town were set aside as a public reserve
in 1877.

This reserve has had varied uses including sheep grazing, ten acres as a manure depot and Minyip's rubbish tip. In 1995-96 bulldozers were used to bury the rubbish. Community volunteers helped with the clean-up and revegetation.

The original vegetation was preserved and the current walking track surveyed and mown. In 1998 Parks Victoria named the area Minyip Bushland Reserve. In 2002 a friends group was formed, with the aim of preserving and enhancing the area for future generations. A State Government grant
enabled the walking track to be resurfaced in 2013

The park is a nice place to see Buloke woodland that was once widespread throughout western and northern Victoria. Other flora that you'll see include numerous wattles and native mistletoe. There is an extensive range of birdlife in the park.

There is a short 700m loop and a longer 2km loop. The bushland is wheelchair friendly.

There are plenty of nearby camping areas.

Located near the corner of Donald-Murtoa Road and Coutts Road.
