Merricks Beach

Merricks Beach

Merricks Beach is a small holiday settlement at the end of Merricks Beach Road. The road ends at a foreshore reserve where there is a yacht club and picnic facilities. Merricks Beach is mainly used by locals and sailors.

The beach meanders for over 2 km south-west from Palmer Bluffs to a more prominent bluff.

The beach is backed by 10 to 20 m high, vegetated bluffs, with a low dune backing the northern section of Merricks Beach. Access is at Merricks in the north.

The beach tends to be relatively narrow and steep, with deep water at high tide and exposed sand and reef flats at low tide.

Swimming is most suitable at mid to high tide, as the tidal flats are exposed at low tide.

The beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous)

Access for Dogs:

Dogs are prohibited from the beach between 9am and 7pm throughout the Daylight Saving period. Outside of these times, dogs must be on leash at all times.

Review:

There is a bin at the top of the track which leads down from the car parking area to the beach past toilets. There is a long beach bordered by coastal vegetation with quite a lot of seaweed in the water and on the beach. The beach is quiet with no facilities.
