Merino Water Tank Art
A whimsical trompe l'oeil style artwork which presents a water tank as a glass windowed aquarium, allowing visitors to see inside the tank where native animals happily swim around in the water.
Characters include a swimming wombat in a yellow polka dot bikini with snorkel, chicken in a flamingo floaty, a Surf Life Saving turtle saving an egg from the school's resident hen, some estuary perch, a sacred kingfisher, platypus, short finned eel in the reeds, smashed aquarium window with water gushing out and under the gushing water there is an opportunistic koala having a shower, wearing a pink shower cap, complete with a pink towel on a towel rail.
Note: The tank is located in the grounds of the Merino Consolidated Primary School and can be seen from the road. Please do not cross any fencing to observe or take photos of the mural.
