Entry to Central Goldfields outdoor pools is free for the 2024/25 season.
UPDATE: The council continues to work behind the scenes to plan and advocate for the money needed to restore our heritage-listed Maryborough Outdoor Pool precinct. Unfortunately, the outdoor pool will remain closed until funding is secured.
In 2022 the pool was deemed at 'end of life stage' meaning it is unsafe to re-open until the pool is demolished and rebuilt. In July this year we submitted an expression of interest for funding to the Federal Government?s Growing Regions Program. Of the $8 million needed to complete the project, Council has applied for $4 million in funding via the grant. If successful, the remaining $4 million would be raised by Council. For more information and updates visit the project page.
Review:
There are three pools; a main 50m pool which is up to 3.0m deep, a 25m rectangular pool is 0.8m deep and an octagonal toddlers pool without shade sails. Next to the toddlers pool is a shelter with table and seat plus a long shelter for shade. There are significant grassy areas with about six trees. Overall the pool complex is showing its age a touch.
