At Story Studios Australia/Melbourne Young Writers' Studio we run fun and immersive creative story writing courses and workshops for children, teens and adults.
Based in our beautiful writing studio in Carlton and Online, our kids and teens programs are aimed at equipping and inspiring young writers with the skills they need to get writing and to develop their storytelling craft.
Our creative story writing courses are a journey into story, where we explore characters, worlds, ideas and inspire creativity.
For adults we run a range of creative story writing courses and events for emerging and established writers. From regular casual events such as Words and Wine, Write In Wednesdays and Screenwriters Club, to short courses and one off events such as the Writers' Pub Crawl - our adult calendar is a wonderful way to connect with the writing community, hone your craft, and gain practical industry insights.

Creative Story Writing Clubs and Private Mentorships
Our weekly Creative Story Writing Clubs and Mentorships are led by practising and professional writers who mentor kids and teens on their journey into story. The sessions are tailored according to the interests of the group or individual and young writers are supported to develop their storytelling and writing skills, build confidence in their ideas, and be creatively inspired and nurtured.
There is an ever expanding array of publishing opportunities for young writers, from publication in our beautiful annual anthology, which is sold in Readings Kids and The Little Bookworm, to having pieces published in our magical newspaper, The Quarterly Quill, as well as on our collaborative world building blogs and more!

School Holiday Programs
Our very popular school holiday programs are fun-filled creative story writing workshops that get kids and teens writing and creating in an inspiring and supportive environment. The days are based on various themes, with something for every interest! You will regularly find days of mystery inspired by Sherlock Holmes, days of magic inspired by Harry Potter, days of sci-fi, days of comics, days of adventure, high stakes, history and so much more! If there are any young creatives in your life looking to start their story writing journey, these days are a wonderful place to begin!
Adult Programs
Our adult courses and events are perfect for both emerging writers looking to expand their knowledge and community, as well as more established writers looking to hone their craft and practice in an inspiring space. Our adult calendar has a rotating roster of special events and courses - you can catch the likes of international bestselling author, Aime Kaufman running workshops at the studio, as well as studio Owner/Director, Screenwriter, Producer and RMIT & VCA lecturer Dan Nixon hosting short courses, to name just a couple. You can also come along for casual days and evenings with Words and Wine, Write In Wednesdays and Screenwriters Club, and fun one off events such as the Writers' Pub Crawl and the Writers' Big Day Out.
