Melba Park Playground, Market Street, Lilydale
In the past there were two playgrounds here including a huge, high structure for older kids which was a bit decrepit but had heaps of playability. It was been replaced with something more modern and to be honest, a lot less fun, especially for older kids.
The new playground is mainly suited to younger kids and has a wooden tower dominating the playground landscape with a high climbing wall, chain ladder, access ramp, monkey bars and flying fox. There is a nice big sandpit and a water feature with a hand pump to draw up the water and release it along a curved channel with a sluice gate to the rocky watercourse below.
Also a hillock with a wave slide plus various balance beam areas, swings (one with a harness) and two stand-on spinners.
Shaded and unshaded tables, BBQ, water tap, unshaded seats and a grassy area for play.
