Mansfield Botanic Park
Mansfield Botanic Park is bordered by Fords Creek and the gardens are a beautiful mix of native and introduced species.
There are walking tracks throughout the park, seats situated throughout if you want to have a rest or just sit and look at the trees or enjoy the ornamental lake.
There is a playground with a dual flying fox, water play park and other equipment for children of all ages.
This park is also an off leash park for dogs.
Ngobi-an Gadhaba
Near the lake is an Indigenous Garden. Mansfield is located on the lands of the Yowung-illam-balluk clan of the Taungurung Nation, the First People of the rivers, valleys and mountains of this region.
This 'learn together' garden was created by Gadhaba Local Aboriginal Network to introduce you to some of the plants used by local Aboriginal people for food, medicine, tools and fibre.
Warning: When you see a berry or flower, please don't pick or eat it as it may need special treatment and preparation before it can be safely used.
When visiting the park, keep an eye out for the following:
- An excellent playground
- outdoor gym
- dog off leash area
- Artwork at the playground including kangaroo sculptures and bird sculptures
- A garden commemorating the contribution of women medical staff to the 1914-1918 World War
- Indigenous garden
- Pond with waterbirds
- Sculptures of horses being ridden at both sides of a gate (the Botanic Park was initially the first racecourse in Mansfield 1870-1920s)
- Massively sized seats and a table
