Cumberland River - Jebbs Pool
Jebb's Pool is a lovely relaxing place to swim / dip and the cascades above the pool can be used as a natural waterslide. The area has lovely pools and rock ledges surrounded by bush. There is an area of deep water for swimming and also areas of shallow water.
The natural rock waterslide is a drop from the middle tier to the lower tier of the cascade above the pool and you land in a small very deep hole. Apparently it is best to tuck your knees up before you hit the water so that you avoid your feet hitting a rock on the far side of the hole. Please assess the risks before using the water slide. There are no facilities at Jebb's Pool.
The starting point for the walk is Cumberland River Holiday Park, about 7km south-west of Lorne. At the visitor car park there are picnic tables but no toilets. Park in the visitor car park and follow the signs to the path along the Cumberland River. There is a walking track which goes around the rear of the camping area.
The walk to Jebbs Pool is an easy, flat 2km return walk. The route is mostly shaded with trees and there is a river crossing with stepping stones which adds to the excitement factor. If there has been a lot of rain, it could be difficult to cross the river safely here. There is also a dry creek bed to cross on the way.
Once you get to Jebbs Pool, you can continue the walk to Cumberland Falls which is 6km return from the Cumberland River Holiday Park and will take at least two hours walking. The walk to Cumberland Falls has numerous river crossings and some scrambling over rocks. Cumberland Falls is quite small (about 7m tall) but is pretty and you can swim here.
