Review:
A well-lit, spacious and comfortable play centre with a good selection of activities and a wow factor from the mechanical car ride.
The layout is based around a long row of tables running down the centre which provides good visibility to all play areas. There is plenty of seating with 14 four person tables and 14 six person tables. There are also some extra tables at the end to accommodate the party rooms.
On one side of the Centre is a row of play equipment including a vertical slide, inflatable with a jumping area on one side and a ladder and air-slide on the other side and a three lane wave slide where you pick up just the right amount of air. Beside this is a fun three level climbing frame with plenty of obstacles which surrounds an area with air cannons, air blowers to fill up a hopper with soft balls which periodically dumps it's load on the kids below and a contraption to test your skills at balancing soft balls in jets of air.
The last item along the line is a timed run. Press the clock timer, run through the course of slides, ladders and obstacles as fast as you can and stop the clock timer at the finish line. If you are fast enough you'll have bragging rights for the rest of your visit. This is where the competitive streak in kids burns bright.
On the other side of the tables is a Toddlers Fun Area for kids under three years only. Most of the area is fenced and there is a low barrier across the access gate to deter the youngest kids from doing a runner. The area has a soft mat floor, some puzzle boards on the wall, big soft play items such as a rocking parrot seat (which seemed to attract the parents as much as the kids), big alphabet and number blocks, a cute slide which gives the impression of going down a water slide (excellent idea having a dry water slide since taking a sopping wet child home from a play centre can be tiresome) and a spinning carousel with seats and hand wheel. At the far end of the toddler area is a two level play structure with soft ladder, little wave slide, obstacles course and a network of tunnel slides. If you can't find your child, starting your search in these slides would be a good tip.
Next to this area is a large open topped mechanical car which is big enough to fit an extended family. Assign a driver, hop in, buckle up and hang on for a bucking ride which twists and turns in all directions. The accompanying flashing lights and music will bring back memories for the parents while the kids just enjoy the experience. It's like driving down the Vegas strip with Elvis in the car. Note that children smaller than 1 metre tall must ride with an adult.
There are four party rooms which have fun murals with scenes incorporating the Lollipop cat characters. Take your pick from a jungle, moon landing, island or desert scenes. The birthday host gets to sit on a throne fit for a king or queen.
The centre has a wristband security system for the kids to ensure they stay in the centre and leave with the right person.
The Play Centre was well suited to parents playing along with their kids.
There is special pricing for Playgroup and Mothers Groups on school days which require booking 24 hours in advance.
The menu had quite an extensive range for kids and adults and was reasonably priced. It includes kids meals, hot food, pizza, salads, sandwiches, open melts and wraps, adult meals and hot and cold drinks.
The centre is air-conditioned or heated, depending on the season, which is a big plus. There is no need to fear coming to a big shed with a tin roof without air-conditioning and have the kids dripping in sweat and making the carpet in the car mouldy on the return trip home from the torrents of sweat.
The staff were friendly and engaged and tried to keep the Centre tidy (which is as easy as shovelling snow with a teaspoon in a snow storm when you have zillions of kids determined to make it as messy as possible).
The Centre had some of my pet Play Centre dislikes; having some rides (three rides at one end) which require paying extra money which often leads to a lot of nagging from kids and forcing parents to pay for admission and getting a drink in return (if I want a drink I am more than happy to pay for one).
