Lockhart Street Playground, Mernda
Wow. This is a playground for high achievers. There are two towers joined together by a sloping rope tunnel high above the ground. The lower tower has a rope net ladder to reach the platform where the rope tunnel starts. There is a fireman's pole to get down and a forest of dangling ropes on the underside. If you don't want to take the rope tunnel to the second tower there is a climbing wall or another rope net. Then it's high steep steps to the top level of this tower which has a big curved tunnel side from each level.
At the bottom there's no standard shopfront - there's a cafe where budding baristas can serve lattes and macchiatos. Around the base of the towers are lots of soft mounds, fun seesaws, various swings and birds nest which rocks you back-and-forth.
Plenty of unshaded seats around the playground area. There is a big shelter with two tables, BBQs, water tap and grassy area.
The council has found it necessary to install the following sign next to the playground:
Adult supervision of children is required at all times within this play space.
Parents and guardians are required to assess the limitations of your children's ability, prior to allowing them access to the adventure towers.
All users should be mindful of their surroundings within the play space, take care and help keep others safe within this space.
