I used to love the old playground; it was huge with so much to do and I was so disappointed when I saw this playground as it was being constructed. However, on my second visit, I've warmed up to the new playground. What isn't there to enjoy about it? Set next to a lovely lake which is surrounded by a walking track, plenty of grassy areas to play, heaps of picnic shelters and tables, BBQs, toilets and water taps, and to top it all off there is a nature based playground with some challenging aspects plus a water play park. On the weekend and holiday periods you'll generally find some food and coffee trucks in the car park.

The water play area has a pole with button to activate the water spray cycle. The water play area comprises a concrete pad with a series of water sprays from poles of different heights and the ground plus some water cannons which kids can use to get everyone else thoroughly soaked. The water is sequenced so that all the sprays aren't active at the same time.

The Lillydale Lake Splash Pad is usually active from about 21 September to 28 April.

The main play element is a tower with a tightly twisting tunnel slide which can only be reached by a tall, slanting rope net. Around the base is a low rope traverse course. For younger kids there is another tower which is much lower in height and also has a slanting rope net for access to the slide. All ages are catered for with these slides.

There are two flying foxes on the side of the playground; one with a disk seat and the other with a harness seat. There is also a wing shaped metal climbing frame which leads up to the beak of a big wooden bird, set of vertical climbing poles with notches cut in them for footholds, birds nest swing, big stand on carousel, Liberty swing (for wheelchairs), four standard swings, expression swing (where parent and child sit opposite each other), some cute rocks with eyes, big sandpit with seal springer and a beautiful metal platypus climbing frame, a rocky stream with some sluice gates with a mushroom shaped tap to provide water, a sandpit with metal poles for parkour and two circular disks on springs.

There are plenty of shady seats, logs and rocks to sit on throughout the playground.

There is an outdoor gym located on the north side of the lake.
