Liddesdale Bushland Reserve (Eltham North)
Liddesdale Bushland Reserve is a 1.04 hectare reserve which provides an important refuge for local wildlife to travel between nearby bushland.
Activities in the park include wildlife observation.
History
This reserve has been disturbed from timber cutting and grazing by horses. Before 2013, it was part of a larger bushland area and was privately owned. The reserve was acquired by Banyule Council, which subdivided the site, with a portion that was developed. The most intact and environmentally significant portion of the site was set aside as a conservation reserve.
Flora and Fauna
This reserve is in the highlands-southern fall bioregion, and has 2 vegetation communities: grassy dry forest/box-stringybark woodland - red box (hill slope) and herb-rich foothill forest-red stringybark (sheltered hill-slope).
146 plant species have been recorded in the reserve, including sweet bursaria, chocolate lily and narrow-leaf bitter pea.
Access for Dogs
No cats or dogs are permitted in this reserve.
