Karkarook Park Dog Off Leash Area (Heatherton)
The dog off leash area at Karkarook Park is like some mystical place which dog owners are totally unaware of. Contributing to this lack of awareness is a lack of signposting from the main area. It is actually located south of the Butterfly car park which is the second car park along the Karkarook Access Road from the main entrance and only 50m from the playground.
The off-leash area is a 300m x 50m grassy area surrounded by bushland and long grass which means that snakes could be a problem in summer. There is no bin or water tap in that area of the park.
Alternatively there is a 1.8km on-leash walk around the lake. The rest of the park is on-leash.
