Kangaroo Ground Horse & Pony Club (Kangaroo Ground)

Kangaroo Ground Pony Club provides opportunities and encouragement for young people to develop skills, knowledge and enjoyment of horse riding. Kangaroo Ground Pony Club caters for riders and horses of all standards, from children who are very new to riding, to riders wanting to compete at a high level. We believe that riding should be fun, and provide an atmosphere in which riders can progress, at their own pace in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

Extensive facilities include 6 sand arenas to suit everyone from beginners and young riders right up to our high level older riders, a cross country course, a considerable array of show jumping equipment, a large car park and specially designed yards built to provide safe enclosed spaces for both horses and ponies.

Kangaroo Ground pony club was established in 1964, by a few local families with Diana Bassett-Smith as its first DC. In the early years, the club moved according to where space and sheds were available, In 1988, following a massive effort over many years, the club purchased the land where we are now.

Kangaroo Ground Pony Club also prides itself on being the only club in Victoria to own our own grounds. This gives us security, and also a huge responsibility. We have inherited an amazing equestrian facility of 6 arenas, a handy mount ring, cross country course, sheds, and clubhouse. We have also inherited a club that has high standards and an awesome work ethic. Where the work of past committees and families has provided all this for us, we work to maintain and improve, so the club will continue for future generations.

Kangaroo Ground Adult Riders also ride at our grounds. They hold their rallies on Thursday mornings, and the 2nd and 4th Sunday every month except winter months when it's the 4th Sunday only. The Kangaroo Ground Adult Riders Club rallies run from 9.30 - 1pm. Kangaroo Ground Adult Riders Club have priority on these days and the first choice of the arena's however we can still use the arenas or cross country and handy mount areas if they are not using them.

The grounds are not for the public - only for Kangaroo Ground Horse and Pony Club or Kangaroo Ground Adult Riders Club members.

New members are always welcome from the young rider to the adult supporter or budding instructor. Riding members of Pony Club Victoria are 25 years or younger and of any riding ability.

Opening Hours:

Rallies are held on the 1st Saturday of each Month.
We are the only pony club to meet on a Saturday which means your Sundays are free!

Access for Dogs:

Dogs are prohibited.
