Kackeraboite Creek Beach (Frankston South)

There are three narrow beaches in a 1.5 km long section of coast backed by 20 to 30 m high bluffs. The area is mainly used by the Daveys Bay Yacht Club and fishers.

At Pelican Point, the coast turns east into Daveys Bay, then swings back to face west past Kackeraboite Creek. This 1.5 km long section is dominated by 20 to 30 m high bluffs, rocks and reefs. The narrow, 650m long Kackeraboite Creek Beach is at the northern end. The sandy beach has some offshore rocks and the Kackeraboite Creek provides some play opportunities for the kids.

There are also steps down to Kackeraboite Creek Beach at the end of Gulls Way.

Swimming - A relatively safe beach during light winds and low waves. However, strong westerlies and accompanying waves will produce strong rip currents.

Kackeraboite Creek beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous).

Review:

There is very limited street parking at the end of Gulls Way. Access to the beach is via a wooden staircase with 73 steps which ends next to a storm water outlet. Near the steps

Near the steps big sandbags protect the cliffs from erosion. There is a small beach area to the north of the steps which quickly narrows and backs onto the cliff. This area has private staircases from properties and the beach is quite stony.

In the southern direction is Kackeraboite Creek which is quite narrow (about 1m wide) and enters the beach area from between high cliffs. South of the creek is a sandy beach without many rocks in the sand but in the water there are large rocks to be avoided.
