Jaypex Park Playground, Western Highway, Nhill
The highlight is a huge mound covered by a shade sail with steps leading to a platform with a very long straight plastic slide.
There is a structure for older kids with wave slide, fireman's pole, shop front, steering wheel, straight ladder, balance beam bridge, clock panel, disks on a vertical pole and flying fox. A low structure for younger kids has a curved slide, walkway, steering wheel, steps and ladder plus a clanger to hit against pipes and tic-tac-toe.
There is also a game of twister for the whole family, birds nest swing, standard swings, inverted V-shaped net climbing frame and a springer.
Big shelter with table and BBQ, water tap, unshaded tables dotted about, toilets and grassy areas.
In the area is an information board about the Mallee Fowl, an example of an Aboriginal Scar Tree, an old wagon under a shelter with tourist information and the cottage of poet John Shaw Neilson which has an amazing shingle roof. Members of the Nhill and District Historical Society reconstructed the two original rooms of the home in which Nhill's poet John Shaw Neilson was born. Neilson was one of Australia's great lyric poets. He wrote about his life spent in and around Nhill.
