Inverloch Shell Museum
The shell museum contains one of the world's best displays of shells with over 7,000 specimens on display including many local varieties.
Many of the specimens on display at the museum have come from private collections. The Jack Lewis collection was the first to be purchased for the Inverloch Community in 1980. Other valuable collections have been added since then.
The collection is owned by the Bass Coast Shire under the auspices of the South Gippsland Conservation Society. The collection is constantly reviewed and updated by local members of the Malacological Society of Australia.
Bring the kids. They'll love the hands-on experience that our touch-table provides.
There are also many specimens of other sea creatures found in our local waters.

Review:
A great experience for the whole family at a very inexpensive price. As well as admiring the varied intricate shapes and vibrant colours of the shells and sea creatures such as crabs and weedy sea dragons, there are some tables at the front where you can handle a variety of shells and sea creatures.
There are some items made from shells including a Shell Castle which is believed to be over 100 years old.
