Inglewood Reservoir & Botanical Gardens Reserve
Inglewood Reservoir is a lovely place to enjoy walking, swimming, fishing, birdwatching or having a picnic.
The reservoir is close to the Inglewood Botanical Gardens Reserve and there is an easy 1.5 - 2km circuit walking track starting from here which leads around the reservoir.
The area also has some evidence of historical gold diggings.
On occasions the reservoir has been stocked with Golden Perch.
There are picnic facilities (tables, wood BBQs, gazebo and toilets) at the adjacent Inglewood Botanical Gardens Reserve. A highlight are wood carvings created from large tree stumps. The Nankeen Night Heron is particularly impressive. Unfortunately, little remains of the original botanic gardens. The Reserve was established in 1864 and restored as part of the Bicentennial Year program in 1988.
Access to the reservoir - The reservoir is located a short distance north of town beside the Inglewood-Powlett Road. The best option is to park in the Botanical Gardens Reserve and walk to the reservoir.
Review:
By far the best element is the walk around the reservoir. The reservoir is also a lovely spot for fishing, swimming or picnicking.
The Botanical Gardens itself only has a small range of trees, a pergola with seats, wood barbecues (2x), two unshaded tables, toilets, small playground and some tree stumps which have been carved from old tree stumps which are in very bad condition.
