There is a popular canoeing/kayaking day trip from Homestead Road to Wittons Reserve in Wonga Park. The distance is about 5 km and takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours depending on the water level. There are a series of rapids and the route is grade 2 (grade 3 when the water is high).

Access to the river is at the end of Lower Homestead Road where there are concrete tiered steps. There is a canoe launching area at Wittons Reserve, Wonga Park.
