Hamilton, both the geographical and business hub of the region has been the centre of a wealthy pastoral industry for over 160 years. It has grown to become a thriving city, exhibiting style and quality, with excellent shopping, diverse architecture, an outstanding art gallery and stunning botanic gardens. Local events and festivals include hamilton cup in april along with the Southern Grampians promenade of sacred music. In June is the Hamilton eisteddfod and in Auguest Hamilton residents celebrate sheepvention.
Hamilton and Grampians host 'Party with the Ponies during December along side the Hamilton Christmas Expo.
