Halls Gap - Lake Fyans
Lake Fyans is a relatively small man-made catchment located at the foot of the Grampians National Park and a short drive from Halls Gap,
The most popular activities are fishing, swimming, water skiing, jet skiing and sailing.
Swimming
Lake Fyans is an excellent swimming location for all ages and abilities with warm, shallow water, lots of clean sand and great views of the surrounding Grampians. The water is clear but has a light tea-colour due to tannins.
There are two main swimming beaches - the best one near Lake Fyans Holiday Park on the south-east side along Mokepilly Road. There is a day guest entry fee of $10 per person to use the facilities at the Holiday Park. This includes toilets, picnic tables, coin operated BBQ, games room, jumping pillow and camp kitchen (swimming pool is excluded). There is a designated swimming area where boats are prohibited, a long lovely sandy beach fringed by gum trees.
The other location is at Kelleys Beach (south-west side of the lake along Kelleys Beach Road) where the sand is not as nice and there is a toilet block and a big shelter with four tables near the marina. This area is free to use. The swimming area is just north of the Marina.
Note: Camping is not permitted at the lake.
Fishing
This lake has good catches of Brown and Rainbow Trout and some great Redfin. Local Tip: When the lake is holding a good amount of water, shore-based angling is a good option, especially off the wall fishing Mudeyes or fly fishing.
Access for Dogs:
Animals are not permitted at the lake or Lake Fyans Holiday Park.
