Halls Gap - Brambuk Cultural Centre
Brambuk, the Grampians National Park and Cultural Centre, houses an Aboriginal cultural centre which explains much of the history and stories associated with the area.
Bushfoods Cafe - Be adventurous, our menu combines traditional aboriginal food with the more comtemporary menus of today. Try the Kangaroo, Emu, Crocodile or a vegetarian dish. Our menu also caters for the less adventurous as well, there is a meal to suit everyone. Enjoy a coffee and get in touch with someone at home with our broadband internet cafe.
Join in our bushfoods walk through our gardens and let a ranger teach how aboriginal people used each plant and for what purposes. Walks operate during our School Holiday Program.
Activities - Join us for an exciting range of cultural experiences including children's activities, didgeridoo workshops, bushfood tasting and boomerang painting & throwing. During the school holidays our What's On program offers an extended list of activities for the whole family.

The centre is located about 2.2 km from Halls Gap and is an informative and interesting place to find out more about the about the aboriginal culture.
Brambuk is an Aboriginal word for Cockatoo and the building of the Cultural Centre has a wonderful shape representing a cockatoo with its wings outstretched in flight. The building is also made up of five circles representing the five communities which came together to create Brambuk. It houses a range of interesting exhibits which trace the history and experiences of Aboriginals in Australia. Overall there is a very strong message running through the exhibits about the suffering of Aboriginals at the hands of successive generations of Whites which makes for some uncomfortable moments.
There are some paid activities at the Centre such as boomerang painting and throwing.
The main reception area of the centre has a shop selling indigenous products and bush food cafe which has some interesting food options. My favourite was a bush food platter which was a tasting plate for four people and included crocodile, emu, kangaroo, wattle seed damper, garden salad, bush tomato and muntrie chutney. There was also home-made kangaroo pie. Unfortunately our kids didn't want to eat their way through a range of Australian wildlife.
Outside this building there are also some exhibits showing the Aboriginal activities through the seasons of the year.
There are some loop walks around the area including the Wetlands Loop and Fyans Creek (Barri Yalugi) Loop.
