Goornong - Rocky Crossing
Rocky Crossing, which is located close to Bendigo, has a a free campground with swimming opportunities in the Campaspe River.
There is a day visit parking area on the left side and free camping to the right. The site is accessible to motorhomes, caravans, camper trailers and big rigs and has areas suitable for tents.
Rocky Crossing is a nice spot for swimming, kayaking, bushwalking and bird watching.
Here the Campaspe River has a shallow rocky area with some rockpools and rushing water. During summer the water is shallow and younger kids can splash about in the water. There is another area to the right of the entrance which is much deeper and suitable for experienced swimmers.
Access for Dogs:
Dogs are permitted on leash.
How to get there
Drive eastwards along Rocky Crossing Road until you get to the Campaspe River. Do not take English Bridge Road unless you want to camp/visit English's Bridge Streamside Reserve.
There is also another camping and swimming area close-by at English Bridge Streamside Reserve.
