Gisborne Racecourse Marshlands Reserve
The Gisborne Marshland is one of the few remaining wetland environments in the Macedon Ranges region on public land.
This reserve supports nationally threatened vegetation and a range of wetland fauna, including a variety of frogs, skinks, snakes and water birds. The eastern part of the site contains the steam park which is managed by the Gisborne Vintage Machinery Society.
There are walking paths in the reserve.
The site was managed by the Trustees of Gisborne Racecourse in the 1880s who installed drainage channels through the marshlands to form a racecourse.
The site was managed as a racecourse until 1933. The Gisborne Bypass was constructed through the site in the 1980s, resulting in the marshland's current bisected form.
Access for Dogs:
The Steam Park section on the eastern side is a timed dog off leash area. Dogs are prohibited from the Marshland Reserve area.
