We have also welcomed the Mornington Peninsula Triathlon Club to share our facilities and join in with our activities.
Frankston Yacht Club's Learn2Sail Program is a recognized Discover Sailing centre ran by qualified Australian Sailing Instructors.
Programs include:
Tackers - Tackers is a fun introductory, games-based kids learn to sail program designed for ages 7 to 12 years. Kids don't need to have any sailing experience or club membership to participate. All the equipment, including the boats, is provided. Tackers is delivered in small groups of boats specifically designed for the program and supervised by Australian Sailing qualified Instructors and Assistant Instructors who are on the water all the time the kids are sailing.
Programs are delivered a as series of sessions over several weeks either on Saturdays. Kids receive a certificate of achievement at the completion of each program.
There are three levels that kids can progress through (Tackers 1 is the first level), each level involves around 15 hours of participation. Each course is focused on having fun, playing games while learning the basics of sailing.
OutThere Sailing - OutThere Sailing is the ideal way to have fun and get active on the water and is all about having fun while experiencing sailing, socialising with friends and making new ones, learning how to sail in an inclusive environment and developing life-long friendships and learning team skills.
This program is aimed at 12-17 year olds who would like to try dinghy sailing, keelboat sailing, stand up paddleboarding and powerboating. There are two sailing skills sets to develop in the form of helming and crewing. Ideally getting a balance between both is great but if you would prefer to do one over the other there is plenty of ways to have fun. OutThere Sailing also focuses on the social element of a club environment, simply enjoying time spent with peers whether that be on the water, on the beach or in the clubhouse.
Discover Sailing for Adults - Sailing a Dinghy is fun and exhilarating and this program has been developed to provide a safe, informative introduction. If your aim is to confidently control your own small boat, this is the place to start. Starting with the essential skills and safe practice, more advanced skills and techniques are gradually introduced as students progress through the syllabus so that by the end they will be ready to start racing or just enjoy being out on the water.
