Frankston Regional Foreshore Playground, Frankston
The playground was upgraded in 2019 but the improvements are quite negligible in terms of playability. Two large elevated walkways dominate the playground area. The highest walkway has two big tunnel slides, one straight and the other curved, running down from the walkway. You have to earn the right to go down the slides because you can only reach the walkway by climbing up a rope ladder. Underneath the walkway are some swings and hanging disk traverse.
The other walkway, which is lower in height, has ramp access at one end and steps at the other end. This area has a spiral slide, dual wave slides, climbing wall and high bridge.
In addition to the walkway areas, there is a big sandpit with a metal 'rocket' play sculpture, balance beam trail, a big round revolving carousel which multiple kids can sit in, three bird's nest swings, a range of other swings including one with a harness, super cute log springers and an area with three sculpted wooden boats rolling around on the high seas (of wood chips).
Running along the eastern side of the playground are shade shelters with various swings including a Liberty swing for those in a wheelchair, BBQs, picnic tables and water taps. There is only a small grassy area for play. There are toilets beside the playground.
There is a fence with safety gate separating the playground from the busy Nepean Highway but it is easy for kids to wander off into the car park or beach area which means that you need to be vigilant with younger kids.
The playground is next to a ticketed parking area from 9am to 6pm. Prices are $3.20 per hour with a maximum of $12.80 but there are eight free 30 minute parking spots. The Frankston Information Centre and Cafe Sofia are near the playground plus there's the Frankston Foreshore to explore.
