Fitzsimons Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Templestowe)
There is a car park off Fitzsimmons Lane with access only when travelling in a north to south direction.
At the car park there is a track leading to Candlebark Park, which is not an off leash area, and another path leading towards the river in an easterly direction which is an off leash area.
Along the riverbank there are lots of rabbits and our dog seemed to enjoy the futile chase of a number of rabbits. You can also see kangaroos in this area, particularly around dawn and dusk. There is a track which follows the river with thick vegetation along the banks. Occasionally you can get a glimpse of the river. After a while you reach an area where dogs are not permitted. We returned via some huge open fields which were covered in yellow daisies (in Spring) but only had a few trees on the edges. There wasn't a water tap available for thirsty people or dogs.
