Fitzroy Tennis Club (Fitzroy)

The Fitzroy Tennis Club is located in the picturesque Edinburgh Gardens in North Fitzroy. We are a vibrant, all inclusive club and membership is open to all. We offer a range of social, competition and coaching options or you can simply book a court online and play at anytime.

Founded in 1894, the club has come a long way from the original two asphalt courts and now boasts 3 en-tout-cas and 3 synthetic courts, an alfresco dining space, outdoor table tennis and a charming clubhouse.

Junior Competition - Fitzroy Tennis Club juniors compete in the North Eastern Junior Tennis Association (NEJTA). Teams of 4-6 kids are grouped together based on age, tennis standard, commitment to improve, social preferences and after consultation with the FTC coaches. Competition takes place at 8am every Saturday morning during school terms and FTC currently has 10 junior teams.

Social Tennis - Social options include the Monday Mixed Slammers! (A great way to start each week! Any players lucky enough to be free between 8.30 and 10am are welcome to join this very social weekly tennis..both members and non members can just turn up...no booking required), Monday Night Social Competition (The popular Monday night social competition is played between 6 teams of 6 players each. It is open to members and non-members of all levels and is a great way to play and mix with club members. There are 4 competition seasons each year, corresponding with school terms. It is played from 7.30 pm to around 9.30 each Monday), Mix 'N' Match - this is a popular social event held twice each year, in spring and autumn, on Sunday morning from 9.30am-1.30pm. Choose between A or B grade and play with a range of players in a round robin style event with plenty of tennis, food and good times guaranteed. Pay on the day - lunch, snacks and tennis for a bargain price)

Competition - Fitzroy Tennis Club belongs to numerous tennis associations that provide competitions that cater for all ages and abilities during weekday daytime and evenings and on weekends. In order to play in any of these competitions representing Fitzroy, you must be a financial member of the club. As the club only has 6 courts, the number of competition teams that can be fielded is limited.

Coaching - The coaching program at Fitzroy Tennis Club is run by Luke Devlin and the Racquet Lab Coaching team. Luke's personal focus is on mentoring junior competition players through their transition to senior teams. In addition to traditional private and group lessons, the Racquet Lab team deliver a comprehensive ANZ Hot Shots program, which uses modified equipment and court-dimensions to accelerate the development of budding players through exciting and engaging activities. The team always strives to create a fun and inclusive, high-performance environment that caters to players at every stage of the Racquet Lab Athlete Pathway, from beginner to advanced/tournament standard. Programs include: Private/Semi-private lessons (All ages), ANZ Tennis Hot Shots (Ages 4-12), Beginner/intermediate/advanced squads (Ages 11-19), Adult Group lessons (All levels), Fitbit Cardio Tennis and Ladies daytime lessons.
