Ferndale Park Trail (Glen Iris)

Ferndale Park Trail (Glen Iris)

The Ferndale Park Trail is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians and runs from Summerhill Park to Nettleton Park (2.1 km one-way). To start the walk it is best to park at the south end of Montana Street.

In Summerhill Park there is a nice playground with tables and water tap. Head south to pick up the track running westwards. As soon as you pass the kindergarten at the corner dogs may be exercised off leash and at this point the track turns from asphalt to gravel. The path goes beside the fences of neighbouring homes with some nice trees beside the path.

You cross Summerhill Road and reach the Hill 'n Dale BMX track where the track reverts back to asphalt. This area has seats and a water tap including a bowl for dogs.

Cross Ferndale Road and get back into a dog on leash area where the track changes back to gravel. Cross Wallis Avenue to reach Ferndale Park which has an oval, big grassy areas dotted with trees, playground, water tap with bowl and toilets. Close by are some cafes including Glen Iris Pantry and Cafe Sh'm.

Note: If you are coming from the west, the path splits on the west side of Glen Iris Road. Take the south path and continue past the playground.

Cross Glen Iris Road to an on-leash area for dogs and continue on until you cross Dawson Drive to get to Nettleton Park which has a playground. Dogs are allowed off leash here and there is an oval and water tap with bowl.

The park is home to STC South Camberwell Cricket Club and Deaf Football Victoria. From this point the Anniversary Trail continues 2.1 km to Ashburton in one direction and back to Hill 'n Dale BMX track which is 1.3 km away.

Access for Dogs:

Dogs must be on leash and are prohibited from entering the playground areas. See above for more details on off-leash and on-leash areas as well as water taps for dogs.
