Fab Nobs Theatre (Bayswater)
Fab Nobs Theatre is a non-for profit organisation, which is dedicated to producing three major musical theatre productions a year. Based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Fab Nobs is known for not only presenting high quality and diverse productions, but for its unique theatrical space and strong ties with community involvement.
Fab Nobs changed location in 2008 to 33 Industry Place, Bayswater, where they transformed "the factory" into a theatrical space ideal for diverse productions.
The cabaret like atmosphere provides the perfect setting to stage unique concerts and productions that range from the classics to the contemporary. We also have our own bar, which sells food and drinks for every show. No BYO.
Fab Nobs is dedicated to involving all members of the community, whether it is to be on the stage or behind the scenes. Everyone is welcome. Fab Nobs are also devoted to giving back to the community, having made donations to many charities.
Fab Nobs Junior - Established in 2016, Fab Nobs Junior is a program designed to foster young talent in theatre, providing them valuable learning experiences and memories that last a lifetime.
Every year young people aged between 8-18 are welcome to audition for our junior shows, where they have the opportunity to demonstrate vocal, acting and dance skills in front of an experienced and supportive team.
Cast members come into a positive and encouraging environment, where every cast member is valued and important. Our unique venue lends to smaller casts than many other junior productions, allowing a high amount of individualised attention between cast and production teams and close relationships to develop between all cast members.
In order to give casts the best possible school / life balance, we perform all our shows and have production week during the July school holidays.
The young performers involved not only learn to put on a spectacular show, but also benefit from the many skills and attributes associated with theatre, including; self-confidence, discipline, character, cooperation, self-esteem, creativity, teamwork, leadership, responsibility and commitment. Involvement also helps young people improve their time management, communication and interpersonal skills (Musical Theatre International, 2013). Cast and families are also encouraged to become involved in the production in areas beyond performance, such as set painting, costuming, social media, prop construction and more, allowing even more learning experiences within musical theatre.
Since the program was established we have also put on a junior musical theatre workshop every September school holidays, allowing many young people to learn valuable new skills in a friendly and collaborative environment.
