Essendon Symphony Orchestra
The Essendon Symphony is one of Melbourne's most exciting community orchestras. We perform multiple concerts each year in a range of styles - there's something for everyone!
The orchestra was founded in the 1990's by Paul Green as a string ensemble. Over the years the orchestra has grown to be a full symphony orchestra. During this time, the orchestra has performed under several names including Napier Chamber Orchestra, Napier Concert Orchestra and Napier Community Orchestra. However, in 2012 it established itself as the Essendon Symphony.
The Essendon Symphony is the only orchestra in Melbourne's western suburbs.
We are often looking for new players especially for violin, viola, double bass and brass.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings during school terms. Additional rehearsals for winds/strings are held as necessary. Our usual venue is the Salvation Army Hall, cnr Mt. Alexander Road and Buckley Streets, Essendon.
