Enochs Point
Enochs Point is an old historic gold rush township, located in bushland 47 km from Eildon in the Big River State Forest. It was named after the illiterate prospector 'Enoch', who lived in the area around 1855. It is likely he was the first to discover gold in the area, though it is he never made a claim due to his inability to read or write.
Today Enochs Point is a small township made up of holiday houses, a small waterfall and a picnic spot. The setting is beautiful, and its location on the Big River makes it a favourite for fishermen. Though the location is also popular with for rafting and kayaking, with four wheel driving, deer hunting, gold prospecting and historians.
The Enochs Point Waterfall is located a ten minute walk from the Enoch's Point Day Visitor Area. The walk to the falls takes you beside the beautiful Big River and over a bridge crossing a small creek.
While it is possible to access Enochs Point with a two wheel drive, extreme care should be taken in the wetter months. A four wheel drive is the recommended mode of transport into this bush area.
