Edenhope - Lake Wallace
Lake Wallace is a freshwater lake located in Edenhope in the Western District of Victoria, Australia. The lake is named after William Wallace.
The Lake Wallace Perimeter Track which is 5520m in total length runs around the lake.
Located near the southern end of the lake there are toilets and a water tap next to very basic playground. Across the road / parking areas is a big grassy area with two shelters containing tables and BBQs. You could walk to the fishing jetty (1310m) or the lake overflow (2685m) from this area. There is also a pier which you can walk out on.
The water level in the lake can fluctuate over time and the lake can dry up completely. During times of high levels it is used for swimming, fishing and sailing activities.
In the 1860's local Aboriginal station workers were trained in the art of cricket batting and bowling on the banks of Lake Wallace There is a Cairn erected on the Edenhope College oval, along with an information bay, which honours this team who became the first Australian International Touring Cricket Team in 1868.
