Echuca Thong Tree

Rumour has it that the Echuca Thong Tree was started by people coming off the houseboats and leaving them there...

The exact origin of the tree is not know for sure but some of the suggestions include:

Back in the mid 80s, the thong tree had sandals. Young gentleman and women use to meet and have picnics here.
Paddle steamers picked up random thongs floating and nailed them to the tree for their owner to find.

Located at the Riverboat Dock on the Echuca side. Beside the river down from the Watson Street carpark and big white building. There is a toilet here.

In the same area is a tree which marks the high level of historic floods such as 1975 and 2022.
