Eastfield Fenced Dog Park (Croydon)
Eastfield Dog Park is a large fenced dog park has a good range of facilities and covers an area 180m long by 40m wide at the southern end of Eastfield Park.
At the western end is an enclosed timeout area for young/quieter dogs which has a single entry gate from the main area. This area is for younger dogs, big or small, and those that need time away from others. Dogs should not be left unattended in this area. This area has a big sandpit surrounded by rocks and a rock mound with three levels of rocks on the sides. There is also a shaded seat inside this fenced area.
Next to the timeout area is agility equipment with hurdles, inverted V ramp, tunnel and weave poles.
At the east end is another area similar to that in the time-out area with a big sandpit, rock mound and scattered rocks.
There are two sets of double entry gates; one centrally located on the south side with a bin and another at the east end where there is also a water tap with bowl and bin. Outside this gate is a basic playground. Another water tap at the other end or in the middle would be a welcome addition.
The park is very well used and there were about fifty dogs when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. If your dog is nervous around so many other pooches then come out of hours or avoid. Our dog found it a bit confronting with so many other dogs in close proximity. Also some owners weren't keeping control of their dogs very well.
The area was also quite muddy with all the foot and paw traffic after some rain.
Some of the key rules to remember when visiting the park are:
- Ensure your dog is under constant supervision and voice control.
- Ensure your dog is vaccinated and over 6 months old.
- Bring no more than two dogs.
- Only bring hidden dog treats - no other food is allowed.
- Don't bring young children into the park.
- Once outside the dog park, please have your dog on a leash
