Eaglehawk - Lake Neangar & Lake Tom Thumb
Located in the Eaglehawk precinct and developed as a recreation area in 1883, Lake Neangar and Lake Tom Thumb provide a natural wilderness to explore. The path around Lake Neangar is sealed and lit at night. The total length of the walk covering Lake Neangar, Lake Tom Thumb and Canterbury Park Gardens is about 3.1km.
There is plenty of bird life in the water and beside the path in the trees. Look out for galahs using the hollows in the trees. You might also see remote control yachts sailing on the lake.
There is a gravel path around Lake Tom Thumb which also has a lot of water birds and seats to rest on.
Facilities in the area include a shelter, picnic tables, water taps, toilets and BBQs.
The western end is the location of the Mulga Bill Playspace, Peter Krenz Leisure Centre, Canterbury Park Oval and Sports Precinct, Canterbury Park Gardens, the McKern Skate Park and the Mulga Bill bike trail.
Access for Dogs:
Dogs can be walked in the reserve on a leash.
