Donald W McLean Reserve Playground, The Avenue, Spotswood
As you approach there is a playground full of exciting possibilities spreading out in front of you. Apart from the traditional play structure with a small wave slide, tunnel, rope bridge, rope net ladder, fireman's pole, climbing wall and maze panel, nearby there is a huge rotating rope cone, in-ground trampoline and spinning disk.
Off to the side is a dual flying fox (with disk seats), basketball court with basketball and netball rings and two swings with very long chains (you can almost fly to the moon with some effort on these swings).
In one far corner is an outdoor gym with a frame with ladder, high gorilla bars and hanging rings (2x) plus sit-up board. This area has a seat and water tap. A dry rocky creek bed has been built with a log bridge across the creek.
In another corner is a seniors exercise gym. A shelter with two tables and BBQs and water tap sit in the middle of the playground area.
On the other side is a sandpit with a hand pump with water play tables. There are knobs which can be lifted to let the water run into the sand below.
Also a small birds nest swing and steps lead up to a mound with two metal slides and a big area of rocks and logs laid lengthwise.
A highlight is an asphalt pump track with plenty of rollers and two berms. There is a bike track for younger riders with road markings and signs and a couple of roundabouts.
Across from the playground is an oval and toilets.
