Dinner Plain Visitor Information Centre



Dinner Plain is located at the top of Australia's Great Dividing Range, 1520 metres above sea level and the snowline with a population of approximately 80 people. Its 375 kilometres North East of Melbourne on the Great Alpine Road and 10 kilometres from Mount Hotham.

During the summer Dinner Plain is the ideal spot to go hiking, mountain bike riding, explore the wildflowers, fishing and discovering the local history and High Country Cattleman's Huts.

Sights such as Carmichael Falls which is only two kilometres return walk from the Dinner Plain track. Once there, visit the viewing platform and seating so you can take in the breathtaking views.

During Winter Dinner Plain is transformed into the best ski location in Victoria. They have new snow play activities in Dinner Plain this season, come and check them out! Go for a skidoo ride or explore their fantastic cross country ski trails. You can even learn to ski or snowboard on our ski run, a great place to get your skiing legs back in action after the summer.

Mount Hotham is only 10 kilometres away for the more advanced skiers and boarders.

Restaurants, cafes, a hotel and supermarket are open all year round for those travelling to the area.

Visit the information centre, staffed by local residents who know the area for things to see and do, as well as places to stay.

Opening Hours:


The office is open Monday to Saturday, closed Sundays and public holidays. But opens seven days a week from 1st June to 30th September.

Monday to Friday: 10:00am -4:00pm
Saturday: 11:00am -2:00pm
