Deer Park Library Storytime (Cairnlea)

Help your child develop a love of reading by introducing them to the wonderful world of books and libraries through storytime. When you actively participate with your child you help them develop language skills in a fun and interactive environment. You will have access to professional staff for advice and helpful tips on reading with your child. It's also a great place to meet other parents.

Brimbank Libraries have a range of early year activities including:

Baby Bounce
Connect, share and sing! Have fun sharing songs and rhymes with your baby in this pre-literacy program. Connect with your community while learning tips to help develop your child literacy skills. These sessions are aimed at babies aged 0-18 months and sessions run on average 30 minutes.

Toddler Storytime
Ready, set, read! Join us for simple stories and rhymes to help build your child's pre-reading skills. For ages 18 months to 3 year-old children. Come along to a lively, interactive session designed to help build your child's pre-reading skills. In each session, we introduce simple stories and rhymes aimed to support your child's development in a session designed to introduce language and a love of books to your child.

Through songs, rhymes and stories, your toddler will be learn as well as have fun! Our storytime sessions aim to expand your child's vocabulary, memory and listening skills plus developing their thinking and imagination.

Preschool Storytime
Learning is fun with Storytime! Let's prepare your child for school while singing and sharing stories at the same time. For 3-5-year-old children. Discover the joy of storytime with action songs, fun books and great reading activities.

Did you know that storytime is a great tool in helping your child prepare for school?

Storytime is a fantastic opportunity for your child to practise skills like sitting still, listening and using inside voices. They watch adults model behaviours and learn reading concepts like following words from left to right, book mechanics and associating spoken words with written words. Pre-reading skills help them to become independent readers.

Family Storytime
Enjoy stories, songs and rhymes in this all-ages family friendly session. Do you have multiple children and can't attend multiple storytime sessions? Or did you just miss your usual storytime and not want to wait till next week? Then this session is for you.

Our Family storytime session is made for children of different ages and development levels. This open session features songs, rhymes and stories and is tailored by our storyteller on the abilities of those who attend on the day.

Learn English Through Storytime
Learn with storytime. Join us for a storytime session made for parents and children aged 0-5 who would like to practise their English with stories, songs and rhymes.

Sensory Storytime
Sensory Storytime sessions welcome children with autism or sensory sensitivities to enjoy Storytime with reduced noise and crowding.Open to all children and caregivers. This storytime is especially welcoming for children on the Autism Spectrum and families who are looking for a smaller, adaptive storytime.

Sensory Storytime is aimed at engaging your child in activities supporting the development of social play and literacy within a small group setting. Each session focuses on a different theme with songs, activities, a reading of one story and then sensory playtime and exploration.

Sensory Story Time may be particularly beneficial to those who are living with autism or who are living with challenges related to sensory experiences but all children are welcome.

Saturday Storytime
Start the weekend with stories, songs and rhymes in this an all-ages storytime. An open session for parents and children to practice their English in a friendly environment through songs, rhymes and shared picture book reading. For children aged 0-5.

Bilingual - Vietnamese Storytime
Share culture and language through songs and stories with our bilingual storytime sessions for children aged 0-5, Burmese/ English.
