Darebin Creek and Findons Creek Loop Walk (Epping)
A peaceful and picturesque walk along the Darebin Creek in Epping. This 5km loop takes in wetlands, remnant river redgums and returns via Findons Creek West.
Epping is home to a very pretty section of Darebin Creek. This walk begins at McDonalds Road bridge, near Epping Secondary College and heads north on the west side of the creek. A series of footbridges make it possible to create a loop or figure 8 walk that takes in Darebin Creek and Findon Creek.
In just 5 km, this walk passes a variety of landscapes and habitats. Remnant river redgums and swaying aquatic plants "river ribbon" are a highlight.
This walk follows the Darebin Creek Trail north, crosses into Maserati Wetlands and joins the Findon Creek trail. There is a wetland at Billabong Circuit with seating and a picnic area. The wetland is home to many types of water birds including swamp hens, coots and ducks. There is seating available to take a rest and enjoy the view. Anglers Drive Playground is basic. There are barbeque hotplates but no toilet facilities.
The trail surface is sealed and fairly flat. There are no public toilet facilities on this walk.
This walk can be accessed by public buses along McDonalds Road.
