Dandenong Ranges Orchestra (Upwey)
The Dandenong Ranges Orchestra is a community supported orchestra established in 1984. The Dandenong Ranges Orchestra is a community orchestra comprised of local musicians of all ages and abilities committed to bringing music to the Dandenong Ranges. The orchestra plays several concerts a year around the hills.
The Dandenong Ranges Orchestra is for strings, woodwind, brass and percussion. The orchestra is for anyone and everyone of any age or ability to come and experience the magic of music. There are no auditions to join however players need to be comfortable with the classical repertoire.
We hold 3 concerts a year and are often involved in other performances such as festivals, commissions, and large scale projects organized by the DRMC. We are often invited to perform with the Casey Philharmonic Orchestra.
We rehearse and perform a wide range of music from the classical and modern repertoire. DRO have performed music from movies and theatre as well as original compositions by Australian composers.
We rehearse at the Dandenong Ranges Community Music Centre (DRMC) in Upwey on Monday evenings
7:30pm-9:45pm.
