Damper Creek Reserve Playground, Park Road, Mount Waverley
The playground was upgraded and has a nice natural feel set in a sloping grassy area dotted with trees. The wooden structure on the upper level has a scrambling wall, small wave slide, curved walkway, steering wheel, shop front, monkey bars, rope bridge and three wooden poles with climbing holds. On the hill between the levels is a wave slide and a rope to help scramble up the incline. At a lower level is a four person springer, lovely wooden goanna sculpture, long wooden balance beam and swings. A set of wooden stepping stones lead to a lovely table and four chairs cut from logs. Also a traditional picnic table and unshaded seat.
The playground is next to Damper Creek Reserve which is an 11 hectare bushland reserve. The 1.5km narrow bushland strip follows the Damper Creek watercourse. The Damper Creek Path is an unsealed walking path through the reserve. Keep on the lookout for the diverse species that are native to Damper Creek. The reserve has been stabilised and reconstructed by council and the friends of Damper Creek Reserve, with the important urban bushland now rich in indigenous flora and fauna.
Take your camera on a leisurely walk through the reserve to capture pictures of the Southern Bell Frog, the Grey-headed Flying Fox, Peregrine Falcon, Gang Gang Cockatoo, Sugar Glider, and the Striped Marsh Frog; all considered of Regional Zoological Significance. The natural watercourse flowing through the Reserve supports a diversity of habitats. Look out for the interpretative signage to guide you through our beautiful parklands.
