Coate Park Dog Off Leash Area (Alphington)
Coate Park which is adjacent to the Yarra River, resembles a bush reserve and has river and bushland views, sloping lawns, mature native and exotic trees. The park has both dog on-leash and dog off-leash areas.
Parking is very limited in this area and it was difficult to find an available parking place early in the morning. The main entrance is where Coates Road turns a corner and becomes Rex Avenue. There is a bin at the entrance. The park which measures about 140m x 100m is split in diagonal half between an on-leash area (section closest to the Yarra River) and an off-leash area. A map on site shows the two areas but the demarcation between the areas wasn't very obvious to me. The off leash area is quite small. The park has a very nice collection of trees and a smallish grassy area. The park is surrounded by houses and has a steep section.
The dog off-leash zone is marked in purple on this map
There is also an information panel on the history of the park.
