Review:
The City Library is a very interesting place for kids. On the ground floor is Kids Corner which has shelves of children's books, murals on the walls, table and soft cushions to lay on.
The gallery on the first floor is an L-shaped area with paintings on the wall, sofas, seats and a piano which can be played at certain times of the day (weekdays: 9am to 10am, 12pm to 2pm, 6pm to 7pm and Sat/Sun: 4pm to 4.45pm). Accomplished pianists are welcome to play the piano at these designated times. It is considered that an 'accomplished' pianist is able to play the equivalent of piano grade 5 or higher, as examined by the Australian Music Examiners Board. There are some other rules including "the piano is not be used for practice. Each piece should only be performed once and all the way through. I guess this excludes most kids from tickling the ivories here.
When we last visited, there was a lovely exhibition of fun pictures titled "Who's watching Who here?" The paintings on sale were very reasonably priced.
