Cinema Nova (Carlton)
Opening as a twin theatre we've grown to become the biggest independent cinema in the southern hemisphere, with 16 screens and the Nova Bar & Kitchen, offering Melbourne moviegoers more variety than any other cinema.
Showcasing the best in quality, independent, Australian, art-house and international film as well as festivals including Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Monster Fest, Melbourne Documentary Film Festival and Transitions Film Festival. Plus events such as The Room, Cinema Fiasco, CineTrivia, Monthly Matinee, Film Club and more.
Cinema Nova was among the first cinemas in the country to start screening stage productions and art from around the world, and we now draw thousands to see New York's Met Opera, London's National Theatre and go behind-the-scenes with the world's best art galleries and museums.
Our Meet the Filmmaker and curated events allow our audience to experience film up close and personally.
Cinema Nova is fully licensed, allowing alcoholic beverages to be taken into most sessions. With a wine-list that is curated with as much care as the films we screen, every visit to Nova has a sense of occasion. From our famous house-made choc tops, voted the best in Melbourne by The Age, to our Nova Bar & Kitchen, and our indulgent Nova Deluxe and High Tea in-cinema dining sessions, you can combine your love of cinema with the best in food and beverages.
