Choral Institute Melbourne (CHIME) (Wantirna)
Choral Institute Melbourne (CHIME) is a contemporary community choir that presents an innovative, and eclectic musical program of the highest standard, intended to engage a diverse audience. We endeavour to provide both our members, and our audiences with an experience of musical artistry, and the beauty and power of choral singing.
Since its formation in 1984, the choir has evolved a varied membership of approximately 50 men and women of all ages, from 17 to over 80. Chime has toured often and we often sing in Carols by Candlelight celebrations held by various city councils, including Whitehorse, Boroondara, and Stonnington. All this is in addition to at least one, and more often two, independent concerts per year, usually held either at Deakin Edge or Wantirna College Theatre.
These activities are driven by the talent, energy, and enthusiasm of our Artistic Director and facilitated by the committee of management. Our committee has had an unusual degree of continuity over the years; offering a measure of stability, and a breadth of experience.
Joining CHIME Choir
CHIME Choir is open to all ages and sectors of the community. We welcome expressions of interest in joining the choir. Come to a free orientation rehearsal, followed by an audition with our Artistic Director.
The choir sings music chosen from a wide range of genres and styles. Rehearsals are conducted on Tuesday evenings during school term in Wantirna. Some previous choral experience and musicianship is required, and there is an audition process to attain membership in the ensemble.
