Chittick Park Playground, Pollard Street, Seymour
All Abilities playground which is beautifully themed as a farmyard. There is a large "barn" which is the starting point for two tunnel slides and has two tables and an "oven" for cooking play - I'll have damper please! Around the barn are a farmer hauling a bale of hay, chicken, dog, sheep and a lamb. A structure with lovely figures made from shaped metal plus hanging cow bells which all make different sounds. Also a large sandpit with ramp access into the middle.
Off to the side is a non-themed area with monkey rungs, chain traverse and swings (which spoils the overall effect of the playground).
The playground is surrounded by a fence with a beautifully sculptured gate (I would go so far as to say that it is nicer than the Queen Mother's Gate in Hyde Park, London). Unfortunately the lock on the gate was broken.
I get the feeling that this is still a work in progress because I don't see the point of a large grassy area inside the fence when there is a huge oval next to it. Toilets are about 100m away.
