Chinese Museum (Central Melbourne)

A living part of Melbourne's modern Chinatown, the Chinese Museum documents, preserves and displays the history of Australians of Chinese descent. An exciting range of changing exhibitions and heritage tours are used to illustrate the past, culture and values of Australia's Chinese community. The Museum is also home to Dai Loong and the millennium Dragon, the largest Chinese dragon in the world.

The Chinatown Visitor Centre provides an orientation to Melbourne's Chinatown. Chinatown extends along Little Bourke Street between Swanston and Exhibition Streets. The Visitor Centre features displays of historic streetscapes of Chinatown dating back to the 1850s.

Take a self-guided tour of Chinatown, or, for groups of more than 12 people, take a personally guided Chinatown tour from the Visitor Centre. The Chinese Museum shop has an exotic range of Chinese souvenirs, homewares and gifts.
