Cheltenham Rustlers Baseball Club (Cheltenham)
Cheltenham Rustlers Baseball Club is based in Melbourne, Australia competing in summer and winter competitions across all ages and divisions.
The club is based at Kingston Heath Reserve in Cheltenham.
Summer Season
Cheltenham Rustlers compete in the state-wide summer season (Summer League) run by Baseball Victoria from October through to March.
Summer competition involves playing teams from a wide range of locations (from Pakenham to Geelong) and can therefore involve a bit of travel.
The club runs teams in Juniors (Teeball, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18) and Seniors at various levels, starting with elite-level 1sts through to more social 4th, 5th grade teams, two Women's teams and Masters (old blokes).
The club runs junior teams in both Sunday competition and Friday Night competition in summer.
Junior Sunday baseball is played among a wide range of club teams in Major and Minor League levels and is considered a representative form of the game. Sunday games start at 8.45am.
Friday Night baseball is largely a domestic run competition (i.e.. within Cheltenham Baseball Club and some neighbouring clubs) run at under 12 and 14 levels only, and is a more relaxed competition with the emphasis on fun and participation. These games are often played at Cheltenham on a Friday evening at around 6.30pm.
Summer competition runs mostly on Sundays; with games starting at 1pm and 3.30pm.
The main club training night is Thursday.
The club also runs a Saturday morning teeball (under 10s modified baseball) competition; a domestic competition run between Chelt club sides.
Winter Season
Winter baseball in Victoria runs from April through to September and, unlike the summer statewide competition, is organised into independent regional or provincial leagues.
The Cheltenham Rustlers compete in the Dandenong Baseball Association (DBA) in winter season against clubs in the south east suburban region, such as Dingley, Bonbeach, Berwick, Frankston, Dandenong and Mornington.
We are a very successful club in the Dandenong Baseball Association; we have won a number of premierships at all levels and have won the Association Club Championship on more than 20 occasions.
The club runs teams in all Junior age groups (Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18) and Seniors (various levels starting with A grade 1sts through to lower grade teams).
Winter competition runs mostly on Saturdays with junior games in the mornings and seniors starting in the afternoon; and the main club training night is Thursday. It is a very social evening and there is a BBQ and drinks on every Thursday training.
